Munsey’s Mission began in June 2014 to give freedom and safety to animals used in the research field – in behavioral studies; product development; military, space and agricultural research; and those used to test drugs and cosmetics. Up to 100 million animals are used every year in the U.S. in these fields. Numerous species are used, from mice and frogs, up to dogs, horses and chimpanzees.
We provide sanctuary for any species rescued from a research facility. This could mean getting 16 rabbits from a laboratory in California, or getting 5 pigs and a horse from a laboratory in the midwest. Our goal is to first get the animal here to our peaceful country setting where there is plenty of room to run and become whole again. After the animals have had time to settle in and see that life can be good, they will be assessed to find out if they would be suitable for adoption into the right home. If they are too traumatized by their past to be adopted, they will live out their days here at the sanctuary, being pampered and loved the way they always should have been.
Explore this website, learn more about the injustices so many animals are enduring, and find out what you can do to help. There is a way for everyone to be part of the solution instead of part of the problem. This could mean being a foster or adoptive home to one of these special animals, or doing your part to get laws changed so animals are no longer test subjects, or switching to a cruelty-free lifestyle.
